Test Realm in a Nutshell: Empyrea P2 (No Spoilers...Kinda!)

SPOILER ALERT: Although this post will mostly be spoiler free in regards to what has been recently released in Test Realm (in terms of story, battle, visuals), this post will NOT leave out information regarding Empyrea P1, so if you do not want to read any P1 and mild P2 spoilers, LOOK AWAY!!

Usually around this time of the year, young wizards and witches will always have their attention drawn towards Test Realm. It falls into a cycle of Twizards constantly tagging the Wizard101 and Kingsisle accounts asking when it will open, theorizing on when it will open or tricking other Twizards into thinking it is open when it has not (I'm always a victim of this every year).

Given the fact that Test Realm was open a bit earlier (I've personally noticed that they usually open it in November and this year they opened in mid-October), it means that Kingsisle was ready to throw us further into the cosmic battle between Raven and Spider. So on Thursday, October 18th, the doors to Test Realm were opened and like any other logical wizard, I basically spent like, over 12 hours on Test in one sitting.

This post is just a general synopsis of part 2 in regards to story line, visuals and a bit about the battle difficulty. I can assure you that guides will be coming in soon!

If you're interested on learning more about this Test Realm update, you can click HERE for the page that discusses what is in the update, accessing TR through Steam, bug fixes, etc.

When we ended Empyrea P1, the life of Mellori and basically the Spiral was hanging on a thread. It was stressed that if Mellori dies, the Spiral would follow suit, and as saviors of the Spiral, it's our job to save not only the Spiral but also Mellori.

One thing that I have noticed lore-wise when I was questing through was that Kingsisle was making us go back to our roots (heh roots). The further we get involved into this epic battle, the greater our destiny is. We are growing and shaping into something more, but with all that responsibility doesn't mean that we can let our egos inflate. I just found that detail in part 2 interesting. This detail can have a different effect on players, given how far past worlds are depending on whether or not you have been questing on multiple wizards, stuck to one wizard or have had all your wizards constantly up to date level wise.

Image provided by @DestinyRain808 on Twitter

Not only do we go back to the past in a way, but we also face our nightmares. That's right, Kingsisle knows what the community likes and dislikes, and didn't hesitate to throw some of the community's most popular dislikes into our faces.

But in the end, we learn more about Mellori, the Spiral and the first world. We learn more or less what makes the Spiral tick and we're given the responsibility to ensure that nothing gets blown up (or that's what we had hoped).

Battle mechanics tell a different story. I will spoil this one detail just so you can prepare ahead of time but you will definitely come across bosses who don't really show you the exact numbers of their health. You'll come across a few bosses with ??? as their health numbers and depending on the boss, you might have to face a puzzle or just brace for impact. Street monsters are decent as usual, but then again, it's a lot more quicker to fight with friends than by yourself.

As for the graphics, it's simply beautiful! You come across vibrant colors, stretches of fields and some structures that kind of remind me of Pirate101's Valencia Part 2. There are a couple of street monsters that I would love to have as pets (yaknow, in case if any Kingsisle employee is reading this), such as the Snipe, the Horned Frog and the Shadowy Horned Frog.

My general response to part 2 quest-wise is that I'm dying to know what happens next. The further we get into this fight, the more divine beings we have to ally or go against with. I managed to get to as far as I could before the first weekend maintenance shutdown, but of course...

With that being said, for those who have quested through part 2, we're just going to sadly wait until it hits live. For those who are waiting until part 2 goes live, strap in for an interesting ride.

The New Monstrology Changes In Wizard101's Summer Update

It's official. In the new Summer Update, for now only in Test Realm, you can now collect Animus Monsters from Grizzleheim, Wysteria and even Colossus Boulevard!

But first, let's look at the numbers of how many unique types we now can register in our tomes in each world. There's quite a bit change. Most have increased numbers, however, for Azteca, it's actually a decrease.

Amount of Animus Monsters Available

World - Live Realm - Test Realm
Wizard City: 75 - 83
Krokotopia: 34 *NO CHANGE*
Marleybone: 11 *NO CHANGE*
Mooshu: 15 - 58
Dragonspyre: 84 *NO CHANGE*
Celestia: 20 - 22
Zafaria: 8 - 9
Avalon: 22 -24
Azteca: 42 - 38
Khrysalis: 23 - 32
Polaris: 28 - 30
Mirage: 31 - 36
GH & WT: 20 - 27
Wysteria: 0 *NO CHANGE*
Aquila: 4 - 5
Dungeons: 34 - 99

Say Farewell To Those Animus Monsters

I also want to remind you that Wizard101 have removed quite a few "non-repeatable" bosses and monsters such as Death Incarnate, Ghastly Spectre, Osseus Nightreaver, Eke Chuah, Tolkemec, Crypt Watchguard and Wanadi Black Sky. They have also made the Shadow-Web Haunt and Shadow-Web Wraiths not countable as Undead.

Newcomers To The Monstrology Tome

Even with the above changes, they have added much MORE to the Monstrology Tome if you look at the numbers. Mooshu and the Dungeons has the most jump in numbers regarding Animus Monsters. Dungeons alone has gained 65 unique Animus Monsters! Mooshu gained 43! This just means we will have a long long long journey in collecting all of them.

Where To Buy The New Extract Spells

If you want to know where all three new extract spells, let me show you. Right now, in Test Realm, they aren't even marked on the map and the one in Wysteria is very easy to miss. Just remember the green arrow on the map is where the NPC is located.

The Extract Treant Spell

You can buy the Extract Treant spell for 100k Gold.

The Extract Pig Spell

You can buy the Extract Pig spell for 100k Gold.

The Extract Gobbler Spell

You can buy the Extract Gobbler spell for 100k Gold.

In the next few weeks, I will be getting together a list of what available monsters we can get with the new extract spells. Stay tuned!

Avalon's Fishing Expansion: Quests, Spells & Unique Fish

With the new summer updates in the Test Realm, there's a brand new fishing quest where you will be able to fish in Avalon and be able to collect a brand new fishing spell!

How To Get Started

To get started, Lucky Hookline in Wizard City Commons will give you the quest that will open up dialogue with the Avalon's fishing NPCs. Once you got it in your quest book, head to Avalon!

You will be able to find Brooke Waterman pretty easily. She's by the pond in Caliburn.

Guess we have to go to Caer Lyon to speak to her sister, Wren.

The Quests Now Really Start

This is the very first fishing quest you will be given. When you complete all of the quests from this storyline, you will be able to learn the Rank 2 Sentinel spell.

Someone got a big head and it ain't me.

So for the first quest, you will need to collect Sword Tail which can be found anywhere and a William Walleye in High Road.

*Sword Tail*

Sword Tail, Rank 1, Fire, Regular Aquarium, 1400 First Catch XP
This fish can be found anywhere. But, for some reason, I feel like this fish has a jerky movement in the water which should be easy to find. Almost like it wants to follow you or something. I could be wrong though.

*William Walleye*

William Walleye, Rank 2, Balance, Regular Aquarium, 1500 First Catch XP
This fish can be found in High Road. It should be relatively easy to get.

Remember, resetting your pond might be needed to get a William Walleye!

The Second Quest

For the second quest, you will need four types of unique fish.

*King Mackerel*

King Mackerel, Rank 3, Ice, Regular Aquarium, 1600 First Catch XP *Rare Fish
The King Mackerel can be found anywhere. Caliburn, Wyrd, High Road, etc.

*Sea Fairy*

Sea Fairy, Rank 3, Life, Regular Aquarium, 2000 First Catch XP *Epic Fish
The Sea Fairy is found in the Wyrd, in the purple bubbly lagoons. Keep resetting the pond until you find a life school fish! You can also find this fish in High Road.

*Hamlet*

Hamlet, Rank 2, Death, Regular Aquarium, 1700 First Catch XP
The Hamlet was found in the only water source of Dun Dara. Pretty easy. Just keep resetting for a death school fish. You can also find this fish in Caer Lyon.

*Hag Fish*

Hag Fish, Rank 2, Death, Regular Aquarium, 1600 First Catch XP *SENTINEL
The Hag Fish is easiest. You can find it in the Wyrd's purple bubbly lagoons and it's an Sentinel. Instead of finding it, it will find you!

Yay, you finished all of the quests!

I feel you, girl. I got your back, Wren.

GRRRRRR....

Yay, at least you got a spell out of it!

****

 The Other Fishes of Avalon

There are more unique fish in Avalon that would also be great for your fish collection.

*Sword Stone Fish*

Sword Stone Fish, Rank 3, Regular Aquarium, 1600 First Catch XP *Rare Fish
The Sword Stone Fish can be found in Caliburn.

*Red Cap Carp*

Red Cap Carp, Rank 2, Life, Regular Aquarium, 1500 First Catch XP
This fish can be found in Caer Lyon.

*Obese Dragon Fish*

Obese Dragon Fish, Rank 2, Fire, Regular Aquarium, 1400 First Catch XP
You should be able to find an Obese Dragon Fish in Caliburn. I know I did!

*Box Jelly*

Box Jelly, Rank 2, Balance, Regular Aquarium, 1500 First Catch XP
This fish was found in the huge purple lagoon of Lake Shore.

*Jabber Pollack*

Jabber Pollack, Rank 2, Myth, Regular Aquarium, 1400 First Catch XP
The Jabber Pollack fish was found in the High Road's Poisoned Well instance.

*Black Knight Bass*

Black Knight Bass, Rank 3, Death, Regular Aquarium, 2000 First Catch XP *Epic Fish
You can find this fish in Dun Dara. But since it's an Epic Fish, be prepared to reset the pond often to get it. I only got one after hours of resetting it. Be patient with this one.

*Monk Fish*

Monk Fish, Rank 2, Life, 1400 First Catch XP
You can find this fish in Outer Yard's Mysterious Well instance.

****

So far we know of 13 unique fish in Avalon. If we find more, we will keep you updated!
