What Story Will We Learn About In Polaris?

Many people suspect that we are going to Polaris next in Wizard101. It seems clear that Polaris will be based off on Russia. It made me think of the most famous family of Russia, the Romanov Family, and the tragedy that happened to them. I wondered if we will read about them as we quest through Polaris. If you don't know the story, let me explain quickly the history of the last Tsar Family of Russia.

The Romanov Family

On October 20th 1894, Nicholas II became the Tsar of Russia which is like the Emperor of Russia. Tsar Nicholas' wife Tsarina Alexandra had five children - Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexi. Alexi was the only son in the Romanov family, but he was a very sickly boy. Alexi was born with Hemophilia, which is a blood disorder that impairs the body's ability to clot. If you got cut and it stops bleeding, it's because the blood is naturally clotting. But if it did not, you would continue to bleed making you lose blood, which can cost you your life.

His mother, Alexandra, was so desperate to save her son and make him better that she brought a very strange man home who claimed that he could heal her son, Grigori Rasputin. He was a Russian peasant that turned into a spiritual zealot who claimed he had religious visions. He also claimed that he could heal through prayer. But it did not make the people of Russia rest easy. They were more doubtful that the family could rule the country if they trusted such a charlot.

Grigori Rasputin

It was a terrible time during Nicholas' time as the Tsar of Russia. Nicholas made costly mistakes that led to the downfall of his rule and his family. One was the Russo-Japanese war, which led Nicholas to decide to approve an representative assembly, the Duma. It was supposed to help with constitutional reforms. But he dissolved it often when it opposed him, which made the people angrier.

Then, the second costly mistake - World War I. Russia did not fare so well in that war, even though they won it. It cost them money and lives. Many people starved and died in their brutal winter seasons. People were angry and hungry for change. This led to a civil war revolution led by the Bolsheviks, which eventually became the Communist Party.

Tsar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate his throne on March 15th 1917. The family's palace was put under control and the family was put under house arrest. At first, they were told that it was for their protection, but as the Bolsheviks came to power, their house arrest became stricter. The Bolsheviks were talking about putting Nicholas on trial while putting them on solider's rations. Eventually, they decided not to have a trial, but to kill the whole family. They wanted to prevent any of the family members to be able to rise and rule the country, even if the Tsar was killed. For instance, if Nicholas was killed, Alexi could take over and rule the country.

On July 17th 1918, the family was woken in the middle of the night and told that they were going to be moved to a safe location. They moved into a semi-basement room where they were all sadly killed. Alexi was the youngest of the group. He was almost fourteen years old.

To this day, people still want to believe that Anastasia who was one of the children survived because her burial location was not known. People hoped that she escaped. But it sadly is not true. In 2009, it was proven that all of their remains have been accounted for. But that's how the Tsar era ended in Russia... in a tragedy.

Now, I'm curious about Polaris. What story will we be reading about? Will we learn about Rasputin, the claimed healer? The Tsar family, the Romanovs?

We already know that the "penguin revolution" was mentioned in Pirate101 when speaking of Polaris. And of course the real life Napoleon who is the military mastermind who tried to defeat Russia which is a huge country and failed before his death. In Pirate101, Napolequin did conquer worlds before losing to Valencia's formidable Armada army. You can see the similarity there.

It seems to me at this point that they're mixing the French Napoleon with the Revolution of Russia. It's quite interesting. I'm extremely curious how they will tie the stories together and what other stories we will encounter in Polaris.

What do you think? I personally can't wait to see how this story goes!
