Blaugust Day 18: Pirate101 Housing Sale

Pirate101 is having a housing sale until the 23rd of August. This means what? Houses and some house furniture are on sale which means you'll save quite a bit of crowns. The sale only applies to the crown price, not the gold price.

The Old Homestead

Smuggler's Cove Docks

One of the buildings in Smuggler's Cove

The Smuggler's Cove Lighthouse

The class houses are HALF OFF which is an amazing deal! But then, you could simply buy any of the houses for 100k gold which is you know free... I sure wish they had a sale on the gold prices. Oh well.

Beam me up, Scotty!

This is not sold for gold, only for crowns, so this is actually a good deal if you want six transporters. Each transporter individually costs 2500 crowns, so if you bought 6 transporters individually, it would cost you fifteen thousand crowns. So even without the sale, the pack is still a sweet deal saving you five thousand crowns. But, with the sale on, you save yet ANOTHER five thousand crowns. This means with this sale, you will have saved ten thousand crowns.

Ya know, the other stuff...

"None of your fancy life fountains is here. You'll fight each fight and every fight until you walk out or get carried out in six pieces." - So says the nice doggy, Scriptop, in the Smuggler's Arena

Like mini games? It's on sale. But that's not the best part. The best part actually is that the Smuggler's Arena is on sale! Smuggler's Arena now costs only 5k which saves you 2500 crowns. Buy it before it's too late. Smuggler's Arena is perfect for those who like to fight and well, earn scrip! Both mini games and Smuggler's Arena are sold only for crowns, so this sale is great for those items if you have been wanting to buy one.

The Super Piratey Furniture!

Swashbuckler's Living Room Furniture

Yes it even includes a Fish Tank!

Those you could buy for gold instead if you got it. They cost only 22500 gold each. Again, I wish the gold price was on sale. But oh well, you get what you can get.

Have fun shopping!

Blaugust Day 17: Pirate101 PvP & Win!

So Pirate101 is hosting a week of PvP contest from today, August 17th to this Sunday, the 23rd. They're even giving away crowns to 11 random winners! The top winner will be lucky enough to get sixty thousand crowns and the 10 runner ups will get ten thousand crowns.

All you have to do is log in Pirate101, play Ranked PvP in the Brawling Hall, up to 5 times a day per account. Each PvP battle you complete, win or lose, will be counted as an entry.

So I decided to give it a try today. I haven't even tried PvP in Pirate101 Test Realm. So this will be an adventure for me, even though at first it didn't go well.

See that explosion? That marked one of my defeats.

Sorry! Bah, humbug!

Even if you lose, you still earn 5 scrip!

After losing FOUR times, yes I know, I am a noob. Shut up. HAHA. A friend, Mason, kindly told me how to set up my companions better. After fixing their epics and talents, I hoped for the best in the fifth battle. Guess how it went?

I finally was as smooth and speedy as El Toro. They couldn't get me down!

This big guy scared me the most. I mean.. he is BIG! And those shells of his, well when they explode, they can be pretty painful. But I did it! I got him to his knees and had him surrender!

WOOT WOOT! I WIN I WIN... FINALLY!

If you win, you get 10 scrip. SCORE!

It was a learning experience for me since this was my very first time doing Pirate101 PvP. It was pretty interesting and fun. I will definitely continue it all this week. I sure hope that I will learn more tomorrow and make more new friends. But what I was pleased the most about was the people I had to face in the arena. They were pretty nice, they even gave me tips! We wished each other good luck and told each other what a good job we did even though *I* stunk. I loved the sportsmanship!

Even though the scrip amounts were low, it was still helpful to me because I plan to buy some neat items from the new PvP vendors there. I really love the new world art furniture that's available. It's simply stunning!

Well, hopefully I will see *you* in the arena this week. If you do see me, please be kind to me. Haha. I wish you all good luck!

Blaugust Day 16: Halfway Through Blaugust With 700th Post

So today I am officially halfway through Blaugust. And amazingly, it's also my 700th post today. So I thought I should talk about that today. Something different for a change.

My Experience Thus Far

To be honest, it's pretty tough coming up with subjects to write every day. But I have learned to wait and see what the day brings first, then write about it. It's a lot easier than sitting in your chair wondering what else you have not written about. Writers' block seems to come to me that way often. Even with ideas already written down.

On the weekends, it's usually quiet in the game world, which are the hardest times for me. Games don't really release much news on weekends. I know Wizard101 and Pirate101 doesn't at least. Those are the times when I have to dig deep to find something to write about. But, I do find it a success that I have now written my 700th blog post as well as finishing halfway through Blaugust. I cannot believe I have written SIXTEEN posts, one for each day in a ROW!

Doubt Is The Silent Confidence Killer

I noticed something about myself thus far. I keep thinking that I need to make sure the reader likes the post. I try to read it with their eyes and hope for the best. But I noticed that it's an added stress that I should not give myself. You see, I will start doubting myself and keep saying, "Is this enough? Should I write more? Make it sound better?" I have learned that I need to have more faith in myself and that what I am writing is good enough. It doesn't mean that I do not want to please my readers. But it does mean that I need to have more faith in myself. That I need to chill out and breathe in and out, then write what feels right to me.

Am I Any Good? TELL ME!

Unfortunately, we all want validation at some point to ease our minds that what we are doing is working. That we have reached at least one person. Some aim for more than one person. It's a natural instinct to want to fit in and to want pats on the back just so we can feel good about ourselves. But we have to remember sometimes that at some point, that's not important. It's a nice sentiment, but not as important as we think it is. It's hard reminding ourselves of that of course.

But, you know what's the most important thing? You expressing your true self. Expressing your true thoughts. If you do get accolades for it, god bless you. That's how I've operated thus far. I try to write stuff that I would like to read about. Things that others have not written about. I am not perfect. But I'm always trying to improve and expand my horizons while writing. I learn from other bloggers and writers. I practice my writing because hey, I will be honest. I am not the best writer. As long as I remain open to improvement, I think I will do well. That's what fuels my confidence. That's why I feel like I am a success.

What Am I Doing Wrong?

People ask me all of the time, why is my blog, youtube channel, twitch, website not receiving enough attention? People have to understand that it's not an easy thing. You think that you set it up, you fill in content, then you will see the subs, likes, comments, etc roll in. No, it is not that easy.

You see, what works for the most popular blogger, vloggers, twitchers, youtubers, etc etc is... They have their own particular skill. It might be the gift of gab. The gift of comedy. The gift of personality. The gift of writing.

If something fails for you, you simply need to find another way to express yourself. Study other people's successes, learn what works for them and what you could do differently. People also forget that sometimes you can't sit and wait for people to come to you. You have to go to them. You need to post your content information everywhere in your own community. After all, if people don't know about you, how can they find you?

Success Means Different Things For Each Person

But the thing is, if you reach one person, in my book you have succeeded. Sometimes numbers do not even matter. It's up to you to decide if that matters. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Everyone has their own levels of goals they want to make. Or their own ideas of what success means. But personally, there's two reasons that people want a platform to speak out from - one: to gain popularity or two: to express yourself. If you're lucky, you can be successful at both. But I personally feel that even if you succeed at one option, you are a success. But hey, that's me!

Hard Work & Innovation Equals Success

Also don't forget, hard work means doing it often, keep pushing it for months, even years. That's how you make success. Success does not ever come easy. It doesn't arrive on your doorstep and go "TADA! I am here!" while you were sleeping in. So if something is not working for you, you have to find a new way or just keep doing what you want, it's up to you. But one of the keys is innovation. You have to roll with the punches and flow with what's happening at the moment. You have to be able to change with what's new and happening today. It will keep your content fresh.

That's what I try to do every time I write. I don't give up a month in, six months in, I keep going and going. When writing new posts, it's better to try to write out of the box posts than inside the box posts. People love the unexpected and interesting. Something they have not read before. I also remind myself that if I can, I will and can improve. You have to be able to accept criticism and help it make you better. Don't fear it and at the same time, do not take it personally. Sometimes you have to develop a thicker skin. It does not mean you should ignore them. You should think about what they have said and decide for yourself if it's something you can truly improve on. Then do it. Turn the criticism and negativity into a challenge for you. Try to put a positive spin on it and prove them wrong. Let them make you a stronger person. Believe me, you will be happier in the end. I know I am.

Never Fear To Ask And Share

Don't forget to ask people in your community for advice on whatever you are working on. Make friends within your community and say, hey dude, share my stuff? What do ya think? Anything you could suggest to improve it? I'm no social butterfly in real life, but on the internet I am. If I have to or want to, I will spread the word as well as make friends, ask for advice and ask them to share my content. Don't be afraid to do the same.

Five Tips From Me:

*Find new topics that have not been talked about.
*Find your audience, even if you have to chase them down.
*If your work is sloppy, expect no one to visit.
*Find your niche, the thing that makes you shine.
*Don't give up!

If you guys have additional tips in addition to mine or even suggestions on how to improve my blog, leave a comment. Even I am always open to improvement. No one is perfect! Hopefully your tips and suggestions will help others as well. As always, thanks for reading!

Blaugust Day 15: Rise and Destroy Coming Soon Near You!

"Smash cities in this monster adventure! Use strategy and a team of massive bugs, dinosaurs and creatures to rampage your way through enemy buildings to take your planet back from the greedy humans. The monsters were supposed to keep the planet safe, but while they were sleeping humans came and stole all their technology, kidnapped their monster friends and built cities all over! The only way to get your technology back and restore the planet to its proper order is to wake up and smash all those cities to bits." - Rise and Destroy

KingsIsle Entertainment has introduced a new mobile game that is outside of the Wizard101 and Pirate101 spiral - Rise and Destroy. This game is only available in Australia and Ireland for the time being. However, in Fall 2015, the game will be released worldwide on both iOS and Android.

Rise and Destroy Features:

• Unlock powerful monsters through your campaign of destruction across the map
• Smash thousands of buildings in 90 levels of gameplay across three environments
• Evolve your monsters and conquer fire, electricity and ice elemental powers for maximum damage
• Strategize combinations and use puzzle physics to your advantage to create an amazing demolition domino effect
• Complete Monster Cup Challenges in each level to gain better rewards and bonus items
• Get tiny but mighty creeplings to help defend your monster against the humans
• Manage reclaimed technology and monsters in a super cool control cave

I'm incredibly excited about this game. I can't wait to start playing it and send my monster out on its rampage. This time it's actually okay to destroy! I always felt like I had an inner Firezilla inside of me on the account that I play a Fire Wizard in Wizard101 who can cast a Firezilla spell. I always have said that when angry, I turn into a Firezilla. I even roar. It's kinda embarrassing and hopefully funny. My friends would run in mock terror of me. So now, I can have my own personal monster and make it destroy things? Move over, Firezilla. It's time for me to play Rise and Destroy!

Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Today is Talk Like A Pirate Day! Pirate101 celebrated it by giving away free items and introduced a brand new eyepatch in the Crown Shop, the Crossbones Eyepatch for 100 Crowns!

From now to September 20th, you can get your own free item from Pirate101 at:

A Few Tips For You Pirates!

1) Double all adjectives. Don't speak about you as a dangerous pirate, call yourself a dangerous hazardous pirate.
2) Leave out all g' and v's. Say sailin' instead of sailing or ne'er instead of never.
3) Don't speak in any other tense than the present tense. Instead of conjugating the verbs, just say me be, you be, we be.
4) Don't say I. Say me. "Lookit me new sword!"

Blaugust Day 14: Wizard101's Kirin Hoard Pack Is Being Retired

The Kirin's Hoard will be leaving the Crown Shop after Midnight of August 23rd. If you are wanting a certain pet, mount and/or furniture from this pack, it's time to buy! Especially when it's 50% off.

Yes, it's only 199 Crowns per Pack!

This pack is Asian or Mooshu inspired, it depends on how you look at it. But there are items in here that are clearly that kind of theme especially when you see the Kirin mounts and the Foo Dog pets. The furniture in this pack are definitely very Mooshu-ish. The furniture are what you could buy or get as a drop in that world.

So, with this news of the pack being retired, I decided to challenge myself with opening 5 Kirin's Hoard packs and see what I get! Let's see how it goes.

Pack #1

TACOS!!!!!!!!! So yummy. I mean, like really who cannot resist Tacos? Not to mention that fine boots that I got.

Pack #2

So many pets, so little time. The Stone Colossus is particularly a neat pet. Not to mention the gems. A girl cannot get enough gems for real.

Pack #3

Ooh I got a Chiming Blade. A perfect weapon to threaten my enemies with! And that apple looks so crunchy sweet!

Pack #4

Once again, I got another boots. But ew, I got another spider pet?! There must be a spider nest in this pack. I need a shower now... PRONTO!

Pack #5

Whale then... I guess the pack thinks that I don't have enough tables. Let's now table this discussion, hehe! Beat that, Pun King. No, really, he could. I stink at this.

The Conclusion

So, it seems like my luck was on vacation today. If it was not, I would have gotten a neat Kirin mount which is the star item of this pack. There are three Kirin mounts in this pack - Gold, Silver and Blue. My favorite is the gold because well... it's GOLD! Not only that, there are six super cute Foo Dog pets each one a different color which is another star item in this pack. But I sure hope that you guys have had better luck.

If you ever want to look up a guide on what the Kirin Pack gives, check it out at:

If you can help me complete the gear guide for Level 100, just comment away on this blog post with pictures of gear stats that I am missing and I will credit you.

Blaugust Day 13: Pirate101 & Left Handers' Day

Pirate101 is celebrating Left Handers' Day with an awesome free gift for all of its pirates, a Captain's Hook! You can redeem your own HERE, so you can show off yours in style!

I remember being a young teen and noticing that my uncle Jimmy could write with his left hand. I thought that it was the neatest thing. I even remember being envious and wanting to be able to do that as well. But sadly, I am right handed. So, when Left Handers Day came this year, I decided to see if there were any cool facts about Left Handers. I will list some of them here. Hope you enjoy them.

  • Left-handed people make up 10-12% of the population.
  • Quite a few celebrities are left handed like Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Angelica Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and more as well as musicians like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, and even the Beiber.
  • Research also shows that they are also more artistically inclined which means the majority of lefties are drawn to art and music.
  • In 1990s, Left Handers Day was started in UK by the Left-Hander's Club with the purpose of raising awareness about left handers and how awesome they are!
  • Half of cats are actually left handed!
  • Men are more likely to be left handed. Gay men are even more likely to be left handed.
  • There were IQ tests conducted by St. Lawrence University for right and left handed people that concluded that there were more left handed people with IQs over 140. For instance, Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin and Issac Newton were all also left handed.
  • Left-handers use the right side of the brain the most.
  • It's said that left handers are better at 3D perception and thinking as well as multi-tasking.
  • There were studies that said lefties are more prone to being easily embarrassed, easily scared, being more hesitant, easily angered and drink more often. It also says that Lefties are generally more attractive, more intelligent and more talented than right handers.
  • Left handed college graduates become 26% richer than right handed graduates.
  • The Christian Church used to be scared of people writing with their left hand which is why the nuns used to force children to write with their right hand because many artistic representations of Satan show him as left handed. The Latin word for "left" is "sinister."
  • There is a high tendency for one twin to be left handed.
  • Left handers can see better underwater.

Hope this has enlightened you as it did me. It was quite interesting learning all about those facts. Happy Left Handers' Day!

Blaugust Day 12: The Act of Valor

One of the questions that a lot of wizards wonder - What is the Rarest Weapon in-game? It's a simple weapon that even newcomers can equip - The Valor. But its purpose is not so simple. It was given to all Wizard101 customers who were playing at the time for Veteran's Day in November 2009. Every Wizard101 customer who had their email registered by November 11th, 2009 was able to get a personal code via email. The reason Wizard101 gave out the Valor weapon was to honor Veterans who have served in wars for our country. They are the true heroes.

Many people ask, how do I get it again? Will I get it again? The answer is no. It was a one time promotion for Veterans Day 2009. Maybe someday Wizard101 will do it again. Only time will tell. But for now, for those customers who were around in November 2009 were lucky enough to get the.... Rarest Weapon In-Game - The Valor.

You know, both of my grandfathers have been in wars. Both of my grandfathers were in World War II I believe. My grandfather on my mother side I believe was stationed on some island, I cannot recall which island. My mother would say that it changed her father, that it made him more scared after the war, to do things, even travel out of state.

My grandfather on my father's side, who I call Grandpa P, was in the army. One day, he walked over a land mine, which blew up and made him permanently blind. Even though my Grandpa P became blind, he still found someone to marry and have children with as well as hold a job. It did not stop him from living a full life. I personally never met him because he passed away many years before I was born. But the courage to go on, even though you have lost your vision is amazing. Losing something that you already know must have been difficult. But his sacrifice was not in vain.

Because of their courage to fight, they have stopped cruelty and oppression that even Anne Frank fell victim to. From this, we learned a big lesson. If we all work together, we can ensure that this will not happen again.

But the soldiers' survival, even after the war, is also a great act of valor. Sometimes people forget that the real battle starts after the war, the memories, the scars and the wounds they have to carry their entire life afterwards. The little things we do to honor them, like what Wizard101 has done with the Valor weapon, is wonderful. Even though Grandpa P has long passed over, and my other grandpa not being internet savvy at all, it's still nice to know that people have not forgotten, even in the internet community. There are hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of heroes in this country, both passed over and living. They have fought for us to ensure that we remain free. For that, I thank them deeply. I hope that this reminds you to support the local veterans in your community. I know I won't forget.

God bless all of them for the sacrifices they have made to ensure our country's freedom. And God bless those, like Anne Frank, who did not make it.
