When you want to become the best fisher in the spiral and you want to know what spells you need to be the best fisher there is? Here is a list of the Top 5 Fishing Spells To Have aka My Favorite Fishing Spells.
1. Summon Fish
This is the most useful spell in fishing. You can summon fish which means you can reset the pond and force new fish to come in the pond. I honestly use this all of the time. It uses 10 of your energy per time which is worth it.
You can find this spell from Frode SilverScale in Northguard, Grizzleheim and you have to be Fishing Rank 6 to get it.
2. Winnow Spells
I absoutely love this fishing spell! It helps you scare away all other school fish EXCEPT the school fish you want. For instance, you're looking for a fish that is a certain school. You can scare away all other schools except the fish's school that you wanted. Love it! Even when it use 10 of your energy per time, it's definitely worth it because it saves you time.
You can find this spell from Timor Flamecaster in the Labyrinth, Dragonspyre and you have to be Fishing Rank 3 to get it.
3. Charm Fish
Sometimes you get a fish that loves to swim away from you or stay in the furthest spot away from you. It's time to charm it, so it can come to YOU. I found myself using this on many occasions. It uses up 6 energy which is just fine. It's only for those hard to reach fish which is rare.
You can find this spell from Frode SilverScale in Northguard, Grizzleheim and you have to be Fishing Rank 6 to get it.
4. Banish Sentinels
In Dragonspyre, Sentinels can be quite tricky and frankly, kinda annoying. But you don't have to fear because there's a spell to banish Rank 1 Sentinels which gives you more chance to reel in your fish! Even using 8 of your energy for this spell is worth it in the long run. It will save you from losing fish and energy.
You can find this spell from Yuri Smokesnare in the Athenium, Dragonspyre and you don't have to be a Fishing Rank to get it. It's a spell reward from a quest you receive from Yuri called "Catch 'Em If You Can."
5. Slow Fish
Have a problem with a certain speedy fish that just outruns your lures? The Silver Streak is a perfect example. The Slow Fish spell will help you slow the fish down enough that you can land the lure in the front of it.
The reason I chose this over the Fish Lullaby spell which immoblizes all fish in the fishing hole is simple. The Slow Fish requires lower Fishing Rank and lower Energy. The Fish Lullaby which uses 8 energy while the Slow Fish only uses 4 energy. Not only that, the Fish Lullaby requires you to be Rank 6 while the Slow Fish doesn't really require any rank. That's why I chose the Slow Fish over the Fish Lullaby.

You can find this spell from Haarek SilverScale in Northguard, Grizzleheim and you don't have to be a Fishing Rank to get it. It is a spell reward from a quest that you receive from Lucky Hookline in the Commons of Wizard City called "New Fishing Buddy."
When fishing for the Gargoyle fish in Darkmoor, this spell can be useful in locating which fish are Rank 1 and which fish are not. Remember the Gargoyle fish is Rank 2.
So first, use the winnow spell to get rid of all fish except Storm, then use Reveal Rank 1 Fish. If there is a fish there that is not lit, it's probably the Gargoyle fish. Chase away all Rank 1 Fish that are shown and/or focus on the others that were not lit up by the fish spell, your choice. But you will most likely be reeling in the Gargoyle fish which you probably need for your Darkmoor crafted decks.
You can find this spell from Timor Flamecaster in the Labyrinth, Dragonspyre and you have to be Fishing Rank 2 to get it.
BONUS - Reveal Fish Rank 1 Spell
Great tip from Morgrim ShadowfistWhen fishing for the Gargoyle fish in Darkmoor, this spell can be useful in locating which fish are Rank 1 and which fish are not. Remember the Gargoyle fish is Rank 2.
